Joyce's Obituary

Joyce Essie Hall Johnson went to see her Lord Jesus on October 22, 2021. She was born to James C. and Neoma A (Dennis) Hall on July 4, 1939. She attended Central High School graduating in 1957. She went on to the Central State College (Now University of Central Oklahoma), completing two years, and where she met her husband Buddy L. Johnson. They were married on June 7, 1959, and she joined Classen Blvd Baptist Church the first Sunday of their marriage. While Buddy completed his college training, she worked full time as a cashier in a Volkswagon auto dealership. After Buddy finished school in 1962, they purchased five acres of undeveloped land in northeast Oklahoma City which became their permanent home. She continued to work at the Volkswagon dealership until the birth of their three daughters, then became a stay at home mom.

Joyce became a Christian at age 26 and began teaching Sunday School soon after. She also served as VBS director and served on numerous committiees in the church. After all the children were in school she began working in a school cafeteria, allowing her to be home when her children were out of school. After 11 years, and after the high school graduation of their youngest daughter, she and Buddy moved to Port-au-Prince, Haiti to manage a feeding and child sponsorship program for a local non-profit organization. They moved back to Oklahoma in October 1993. She drove a school bus for Edmond Public Schools and became church secretary for Classen Blvd Baptist Church.

She held both jobs for 3 years until she became the full time part tie secretary of the curch, serving for more than 17 years. During that time she served as VBS director, a Nursery Sunday School teacher, and served on several committees. At home, she took care of Buddy's Handyman Service finnancial books, their personal finance books, and the bookkeeping for Majestic Ministries, their mission in Haiti.

She loved to trave! As a young family they took several vacations mostly to the western and north western states. She fulfilled a life long dream of visiting Hawaii, and was able to visit Alaska, several european countries, Israel, and Egypt. While traveling on bus tours, they achieved a visit to every state except for two.

Her wish was to leave a legacy that she loved her Lord Jesus and hoped that her life reflected that love. She prayed often for her family, as her main goal was to seethat her children and grandchildren came to a saving knowledge of Jesus. She was pre-deceased by her grandparents, John & Essie Dennis, and her parents, James and Neoma Hall. She is survived by her husband, Buddy, of the home, Daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Chris McEarchern of Allen, Texas; Daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Chris Taff of Oklahoma City; Daughter and son-in-law Branda and John Osiek of Stillwater, OK; sister-in-law JoAnne Hall of Oklahoma City; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandsons.

Her memorial service will he held at Classen Blvd Baptist church on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 2:00 P.M.
