Suzanne's Obituary

Sue Leary, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 15, at the age of 85, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born to John and Wilma Ingersoll, in December of 1939, in Pekin, Ill. Sue lived a life filled with faith, love, kindness, and unwavering strength.  She had a remarkable ability to bring warmth, laughter, and wisdom to those around her, leaving an enduring impact on everyone she met.

Sue is survived by her loving family, including her children, Kim and Jerry Edsall, Pam and Warren Harris, Pat and Debbie Leary, and Kelly and Clint Harmon. She had 15 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren, each of whom she never failed to celebrate with a heartfelt birthday greeting.  She especially cherished every family gathering, always behind the lens of the camera, capturing precious memories that will be treasured for generations. She was lovingly known by each of them as their “GG Sue”, and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

She was a highly esteemed, extraordinarily compassionate, devoted RN who greatly impacted the lives of thousands of patients, and likewise, in her career spanning nearly 50 years in several states until her much anticipated retirement in 2005 from Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Her colleagues and Physician friends fondly remember her as being a vibrant, joyful, dependable, fiercely loyal professional and friend - a true light in the medical community.

Beyond her faith, family, and career, she found immense joy in the friendships she cultivated, particularly the absolute greatest joy in being among the dear family of lifetime friendships established in the Merry Widows group at her church. She never tired of sharing the extraordinary activities and world travels she experienced with them. Her most cherished memory being their pilgrimage to Philadelphia to see Pope Francis in 2015. She was also known for her love and enthusiasm of Thunder basketball, and especially enjoyed sharing the excitement of the games with any other fan willing to join her.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Wilma Ingersoll, and her brother William Ingersoll.

A celebration of life Mass will be held on March 21st, 2025, at 11:00 in St. Eugene’s Catholic Church located at 2400 W. Hefner Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73120, followed by a light lunch and refreshments in the foyer.

Sue’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
