CHARLES' Obituary
August 5, 2022 at 12:05am we lost our beloved Brother, Father, and Grandfather, Charles Francis Maher at the age of 82. He is survived by 2 brothers; John Maher and Garland Maher. 2 daughters; Maria Walker-Maher and Regina Richardson-Maher. 6 grandchildren; Brandon Walker, Casey Walker, Justin Richardson, Sable Walker-Miller, Cory Richardson, and Alisha Walker. 9 Great Grandchildren; Kallin Richardson, SJ Richardson, Tannin Walker, Stormy Richardson, Emma Richardson, Nathanael Walker, Benjamin Richardson, Theodore Walker-Miller, and Weston Richardson.
Charles was born January 20, 1940 to Andrew and Myrtle Maher in Warner, OK. He is one of 5 brothers; James, Charles, John, George, and Garland. He left high school at 17 to help support his family so he enlisted in the US Coast Guard the year of 1958. He rose through the enlisted ranks as an Electronics Technician. He ended his enlisted service to become a Chief Warrant Officer on April 1, 1971. During his service, he was stationed in Greece where he met his wife Irene, whom he was married to for 54 years, on the island of Rhodes while she was serving watermelon on the beach. After they were married they had their 2 girls who then accompanied him to many places to include Virginia, Washington DC, and California and then finally settled in Oklahoma. After 20 years of service he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer - 4. He then became an entrepreneur and opened a business, Faucet Parts Center, that he ran for about 30 plus years. Among all these years, he completed a Bachelors of Science and was the 1st of the family to graduate college. He also obtained many other certifications. He always had a thirst for knowledge and "got with the times" and used the internet to learn constantly. He used to say that there's a world of information in everyone's pockets, we just need to use them to learn and "Open your mind to your surroundings and try and learn one thing new a day, no matter how big or how small."
Charles F. Maher was a proud and essential pillar of his family and has definitely left each of his family members feeling the void of his presence. He was severely loved and will be equally missed. "σε αγαπω παρα πολυ / se agapo para poly / I love you very much." To his wife we hope that he is joined with you, his "κούκλα μωρού / koúkla moroú / baby doll."
