CLIFFORD RAY WELLS
Clifford's Obituary
Clifford Ray Wells, 81, died on Thursday, July 22, 2021.
Clifford Wells spent his life in service to others. As a young man he joined the Navy. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. New where he desalinated seawater in the engine room. After his Navy career was over he joined the Nichols Hills Fire Department where he spent 22 years serving the people in any way that was necessary. He rose through the ranks and retired as Chief in 1991. Besides his service to others, Clifford’s other focus of his life was his wife Edna whom he met at a party in 1962. Clifford asked Edna to dance and she replied, “ Where’s your boots cowboy?” They were married 3 months later and have been inseparable ever since.
After retiring they moved to Yanush Oklahoma near Edna’s birthplace where they joined Buffalo Valley Baptist Church. Clifford served as Deacon there for many years. This was an old hat for him as he was a Deacon at Millwood Baptist Church in OKC. In his retirement years he found great joy in mowing & maintaining his property, a hot cup of coffee and vienna fingers, and spreading the gospel. He was a devoted husband and father first, then a loving grandfather and great grandfather to anyone who called him by that name. Funeral services are being held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Demuth Funeral home with burial to follow at Britton Cemetery.
