Dan's Obituary

Dan left this world on June 8, 2023.

Dan was born on April 3,1956 in Raleigh, North Carolina to James Evans and MaryJane Lowery. He spent most of his childhood moving around with his brothers Don Evans and Bill Allison. He and his twin brother Don always had to match everything from clothes to jobs, even had to have matching eyeglasses and clothes and getting their hair cut together. Dan had his gall bladder removed and a month later, Don had to have his removed. There was also a time where Don had an accident on his motorcycle. Dan was leaving school to see Don after he had to have surgery. On the way to the hospital, Dan was hit by a car on his motorcycle and he suffered a broken hand. Their mother had to leave the surgery waiting room where she had been waiting for Don to get out of surgery to go to the emergency room where Dan was brought in.

He was a friend to everyone, a constant source of support. He was always a hard worker whether it was at Sirloin Stockade or being an Oklahoma City police officer for 35 years, retiring as a Captain.

He met his wife, Darcy Riggs, while working security at a two day Van Halen concert. Dan flirted and gave his best one liners, Darcy’s were better. They went on their first date after the second show and saw each other every day after that. On December 10, 1988, they were married at Lakeside United Methodist Church.

Dan loved his job being a police officer, but even more so he loved being a husband and father to his two children, Adam and Madelyn. He worked his whole life for them. To better support his family, he went back to school and received a Masters Degree in liberal arts at the University of Oklahoma on December 17, 2004.

In his free time he could always be found smoking a cigar in his recliner in the garage, especially in the summer when it was nice and hot.  Although he never wanted pets, he loved his dogs Boo and Appa and his grand kitties Mochi and Goose.

Everyone who met Dan instantly noticed and loved the warmth he brought to this world. He was always looking to find the silver lining, the glass was always half full. He never met a person he couldn't talk to. Dan was always the man who would jump up to help someone in need or pay for dinner, especially for Madelyn’s friends or his in-laws.

He is preceded in death by his parents James Evans, Mary Jane Goodson, Leroy Goodson, his son Adam as well as his father in law Noel Riggs and his brother in law John Riggs. Now that he has found peace he can spend his days catching up with them.

Dan is survived by his wife Darcy, his daughter Madelyn, his brother Don Evans and his wife Ginny and his older brother Bill Allison, his mother in law, Barbara Riggs as well as his brother in law, Matt Riggs and his wife Julie. He is also survived by his nephews Paul, Cody, Nick and Noah as well as his nieces Courtney, Georgia, Sarah, Noelani and Tara.

Everyday Dan woke up he thanked God for another day. And now we thank God that he is at peace with his loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at Quail Springs Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 11:00 A.M..
