J C. Crawford's Obituary

J Clinton “J.C.” Crawford, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021. He was born June 28, 1940 in Tilden, Nebraska to Florence and Glen H. Crawford. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and younger brother, David. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Muirhead and brother, Glenn Hill Crawford, Jr., nephews David Crawford and Glenn H. Crawford III; Harriett “Marty” Crawford, his wife of 54 years, daughter Kellye Jaye Crawford Goodrich, husband Glenn, grandsons Cole Crawford-Hurst and Ry Crawford-Hurst, granddaughter Jaime Banks, husband Micah, great-grandchildren Miles, Katie and Emily Banks; granddaughter Jade Shafer, great-grandchildren Ryan Lee and Xane Crosby.

J.C. was in the Army National Guard, 45th Infantry, during the Vietnam War. He attended Oklahoma State University where he studied mechanical engineering. He loved automobiles, particularly race cars and thought about a career in racing working as a member of a pit crew. Although he didn’t pursue racing, he and a buddy did stay involved with restoring show cars. His early work career found him at Standard Builder’s for many years. He left Standard and went to work for Four Seasons Sunrooms where he enjoyed a long and successful career until his retirement in 2014.  J.C. was in sales where his honest, easy way with people and his sense of humor kept him at the top of the Four Seasons roster.

It was at Oklahoma State where he was tagged with the nickname “Squatty Body”. It was a nickname that served him well when he joined the Shriners in 1980 and began his work helping Shriners children as an India Shrine Clown. He entertained and brought smiles to thousands of kiddos over multiple states and worked tirelessly to help raise funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children. He also participated in many of the Shrine conventions where he was an award-winning clown in the costume, makeup and skit competitions. He made a host of friends through his clown persona and touched the lives of many more.

J.C. and Marty joined St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Oklahoma City shortly after their marriage and have been members for 54 years. They were among the original Come Doubles Sunday School Class which later became the Unity Class.

J.C. was strong in his faith and lived that faith every day, privately and publicly. He shared his time and his heart with family, friends and acquaintances along life’s road. He was a man respected by many. Through our sadness of telling him goodbye, we are smiling that he is now part of the Lord’s team.

Services pending due to Covid-19. In lieu of flowers, the Family would appreciate a donation in his name to the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Cleveland Clinic Nevada. Please visit the website keepmemoryalive.com.
