Joy Joan Alexander Ansley was born 3 November 1928 in Oklahoma City to Euclid and Lillian Lynch Alexander. She died the 13 February 2024 at Epworth Villa in Oklahoma City at the age of 95.
She graduated from Classen High School in 1946 and entered SMU where she majored in Religion and pledged Delta Gamma. She married the love of her life Ernest Lewis Ansley in 1958. They brought two children into their home and gave them their all - Sarah who passed in 2017, and Gene.
Joy was a lifelong member of St Luke’s UMC where she developed and grew the church Archives, was a member of Triquetra Class, and with her Mother commissioned stained glass windows be installed to honor her late Father. She was a long-time member of PEO and served as PEO Oklahoma State President.
She is pre-deceased by her husband and parents and survived by her cousins Lynn Alexander Mays of Augusta, GA and Jan Alexander O’Reilly of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by many Ansley nieces and nephews in Texas.
Joy was the perfect name for her as she exuded joy with everyone. Much gratitude goes to the Epworth Villa Staffs who took care of her for 13 years as she moved from Independent Living to Assisted Living to Long Term Care and Hospice. Their care allowed her to live a long happy life.
A Memorial Service will be held for Joy at a later date. Please direct memorial donations for her to the Epworth Villa Benevolent Fund with the designation that it be “In Honor of Joy Ansley” in the memo line of the check. Epworth Villa, 14901 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73134.
