Kathy's Obituary
Kathy Eileen Hampton, 76, of Piedmont died December 2, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Born October 23, 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK to Jess & Rae Ellen Cook, Kathy was the last of her siblings to graduate from John Marshall High School in 1965. She then graduated from Paul’s Beauty College and enjoyed a long and successful career as a beautician until she retired in 2009.
After retirement, Kathy was able to take care of her grandchildren and enjoyed going to everything they were involved in. Grandma Kathy, or GK, as she was lovingly called, could frequently be found watching her grandchildren’s friends in their games and activities as well. Kathy was an active member of Piedmont United Methodist Church and had many friends there.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jess Cook and Rae Ellen Cook, brother Jerry Cook, sister Charlotte Roberts and nieces Beverly Hoelker and Kathy Rivas.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Hampton, brother Jimmy Cook and wife Nancy of Richardson, TX, sons Robert Hampton Jr and wife Susie of Edmond, Randy Hampton and wife Janet of Piedmont, Jason Hampton and wife Katy of Piedmont, 7 grandchildren (Shane, Colin, Tyler, Josh, Dylan, Dalton & Maddie Hampton) and 3 great grandchildren. Kathy is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews she loved as her own and many friends she considered part of her family.
Kathy was a genuinely kind soul who never spoke an ill word of anyone and loved everyone. She showed us all how to be gracious and loving and most of all was the best example of a mother and grandmother for us to try and live up to. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and we know there is a special place in heaven just for her.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 11th at Piedmont United Methodist Church.
