MARY'S Obituary
Mary Lou Welch was born on December 24, 1944, in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Carlus and Lillian Turner. She was raised in Britton, Oklahoma and graduated from John Marshall High School. A few months before graduation, Mary married the love of her life and best friend, David Ernest Welch, on December 22, 1961. Mary and David had two children, Roger Welch and Lorri Williams. She took pride in being a Cub Scout Den Mother and Little League Baseball score keeper for her son Roger’s baseball team. Her daughter was fortunate to spend every day with her mom at the family business as she grew up. Lorri often remarks that she learned everything she knows from her mom.
Mary and her husband David started their business, “David’s Electronics,” in July of 1975. Mary was the heart and soul of the business and worked hard until their retirement in 2008. Mary was one-of-a kind. Anyone who knew Mary from David’s Electronics regarded her as a kind and honest individual who always did the right thing. Her attitude and drive in life can be summed up by what her teacher wrote on her 8th grade report card, which stated: “Mary did more than what was required to earn an A.” In fact, Mary did more than what was required in every aspect of life. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend.
Mary had a love for reading, gardening, letter-writing and attending all her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities with her husband. Their grand-daughter, Rachel, vows that Mary and David never missed a game or a track meet.
Mary is preceded in death by her mother and father, Lillian and Carlus Turner, her sister, Barbara Simmons, and her brother, Harold Turner. She is survived by her best friend and husband, David Welch, her two children, Roger Welch and Lorri Williams, her sisters-in-law, Katie Turner and Joan Welch, her brother-in-law Frank Simmons, brother and sister-in law Gary and Joan Welch as well as her grandchildren: Dustin Welch, Rachel Steffen, Hannah Williams, Joel Williams, Liberty Welch, and Jackson Welch.
Mary will be missed immensely by her family and so many other whose lives she touched. Memorial Services for Mary will be held at Demuth Funeral Home on Britton Road in Oklahoma City Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
