Kyle's Obituary
Richard Kyle Adcock, age 67, passed away on September 22, 2024 peacefully in his home surrounded by family after fighting a brave battle with lung cancer. While most would say he lost his battle with cancer, we believe he won because he is with his Savior in Heaven fully healed.
Kyle was born on February 20, 1957 in Dallas, Texas. At a young age he moved to and was raised in Oklahoma City, OK where he spent the remainder of this life. He was a graduate of Putnam City Original Class of 1975. He attended The University of Oklahoma and was a lifelong Sooner fan. In 1977, Kyle married Kim Hart and had two daughters.
Kyle held various careers in sales starting at age 14 at his father's furniture store, then opened his book store, Front Page News Stand, in his young adulthood. He spent his last 29 years at Bob Howard Automall where he loved serving his customers and growing relationships with them. In his later adulthood, Kyle came to know Christ through attending LifeChurch and was baptized there. While attending Lifegroup he met the love of his life, Shirley. They were married in 2012.
His hobbies were horse racing, NASCAR, cheering on the Raiders and Oklahoma Sooners, gardening, watching his grandkids sporting events, and reading his Bible. Anyone who knew Kyle knows that his ultimate pride and joy was his family. He prided himself on being a girl dad and he played that role very well. He was also a loving and intentional grandfather of four. We hope that he is remembered by his love for others and generosity.
He is preceded in death by his father Richard Adcock and brother in law, Robin Vollmann. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Adcock; two daughters and their husbands, Kiley and Jesse Faily, and Kori and Austin Reid; stepchildren and spouses, Grant and Danielle Edwards and Christy Edwards and Max Sebby; four grandchildren, Harper, Emersyn, Everett and Collins; His mother Carrol Adcock, and siblings Crystal Vollmann, Wendy Hodge and her husband David along with many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29 at The Black Barn in Bethany, Oklahoma (6611 NW 36th Street, attire is casual). In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to The Moore Public Schools Foundation for the Mckinney-Vento Program to support students and families who are experiencing homelessness in memory of Kyle at: https://givebutter.com/mpsmckinneyvento .
