Timothy's Obituary
Timothy Manuel Larason passed away peacefully at home on November 22, just days before his 85th birthday. He was a wonderful man, with a curious mind, a kind heart, a generous spirit, a passion for good music and good food, and a gift for living life to the fullest. He will be missed by so many. Tim was born in 1939 in Northwestern Oklahoma to A R Bert and Margaret Manuel Larason, and raised on a wheat and livestock farm near Fargo. He earned an accounting degree from the University of Oklahoma, a graduate business degree from Northwestern University in Chicago, and finally a law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1968. Tim met Linda Jane Hinshaw of Sapulpa while working at Arthur Young & Co., and they married in 1969. They had two children, Todd and Amber, and were married for 51 years until Linda’s death in 2020. Tim was one of Oklahoma City’s fi nest tax and estate planning lawyers. He was named “Best Tax Lawyer” in Oklahoma City three times. He helped oil and gas operators navigate tax laws to attract investors. He mentored young lawyers as he had been mentored himself in his years at Arthur Young and Co. and Andrews Davis. He helped several charities to set up endowment or educational funds, and he was known for providing pro bono services to clients in need who could not pay, including several cases where he convinced the Tax Court to grant “innocent spouse” status to widows who had been left with tax liabilities by their deceased spouses. Tim and Linda loved to travel, especially road trips to music festivals around the country. They also loved spending time with Amber’s daughters, Madeline Margaret Niblett, and Katie Dale Niblett, and with Tim’s sister Anne Larason Schneider in Phoenix, Linda Larason Edmondson in Oklahoma City, and her husband Drew Edmondson. Tim was blessed with a joyful family, and said watching his granddaughters grow up was his greatest joy. Until his very last days, Tim continued traveling, attending concerts, and going to his favorite restaurants with the aid of his wonderful caregivers and his companion Gayle Townley, of Oklahoma City. Tim was preceded in death by his wife Linda and son John Todd Larason. A celebration of Life service is scheduled for Friday, November 29, at 2:00 p.m. at First Unitarian Church in Oklahoma City, where Tim served two terms as Treasurer and as Endowment Trustee. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that gifts be given in his honor to First Unitarian or the ACLU of Oklahoma City.
